CR`EME DE LA CR`EME

Here's the scoop: Crème Crémaillère Ice Creams are some of the best we have ever had the good fortune to sink our spoons into. What makes them so delicious? Probably the fact that they're French custard—style and some come from the kitchen of one of America's most beloved restaurants, fifty-six-year old La Cémaillère, in Bedford, New York. Fortunately, its no longer necessary to drive an hour north of Manhattan for a taste of cool heaven. The restaurant's retail line of all-natural ice creams—overseen by owners Robert and Bobbie Meyzen—is now sold nationally. So far, there are twelve flavors, including our favorites; Crème Brûlée, with bits of burnt sugar mixed in; Café au Chocolate, coffee with chocolate—covered expresso beans; and Pistachi-Ooh-La-La, which also contains roasted almonds. 914-234-CREM or frenchicecream.com
